The honors for Mitchell keep rolling in. Following an incredible 2009 season that saw Mitchell and his #12 Intrepid/Woltjer Comer 80 capture the Colorado Sprint Championship, IKF Region 4a Championship, and the TAG World Championship, Mitchell was featured on the cover of the International Kart Federation Karter News magazine. Karter News is a publication for members of the International Kart Federation which is one of the largest kart racing sanctioning bodies in the world. "I was totally shocked when I saw my picture" said the 10 year old racer from Castle Rock, Colorado.

2009 marked Mitchell's third year of racing and his first year racing the Comer 80 engine and his first year racing in the International Kart Federation. Mitchell had to overcome enormous challenges to win the IKF Region 4a title hosted by the Colorado Junior Karting Club. In two of the final three races engine problems and a rare penalty forced Mitchell to start from the rear of the large fields in the main events. Never losing focus, Mitchell went to work and passed a total of 39 karts in 25 laps to keep his title hopes alive. "Fire me up and let's go run 'em down!" was Mitchell's motto during the final races of 2009.

Mitchell credits hard work, great equipment, and a great team for his success. "Fear the Turtle is simply the best team out there. Everyone wants to have fun and race to win, that is why I race with them."

Mitchell defends his home turf with an impressive win in a high speed 3 kart battle.
June 6th, 2010 - Dacono, Colorado

Fear the Turtle Racing driver Mitchell Cody won round #3 of the IKF Region 4A Championship Series after a tremendous three kart battle on the fastest track in Colorado. The race saw three karts trade the lead 14 times in the 10 lap race. Just under 30 karts took the green flag which forced the leaders to navigate backmarkers after just 4 laps.

Mitchell, the reigning IKF Regional Champion, and his #1 Intrepid MAKY qualified 4th after a poor gear selection in qualifying. The heat race saw Mitchell move from 4th to 1st in the first lap and he led the rest of the way to earn the pole position for the final event. In the final, Mitchell shot off to the lead early, however, his Intrepid was slightly off on the nearly 900 foot back straightaway at the I.M.I. Motorsports Complex and he was passed nearly every lap on the backstraight. Mitchell's race savvy came through as he would relenquish the lead and re-pass for the lead in the more technical sections of the track. Despite loosing the lead on each lap and even falling back to third at one point, Mitchell was able to lead every lap at the start/finish line.

The win was very satisfying to Mitchell as he did not have the fastest kart and he had to rely on his ability to time his passes to be in front at the line. He also learned a ton about proper setup and gearing that will help him in future races. This was easily the best race of the year and the crowd and announcers were very impressed with how all three karts battled cleanly and with respect for each other. The kids all jumped out of the their karts and high-fived each other for such a fun race.

The win helped Mitchell stretch his points lead in his effort to repeat at IKF Regional Champion.
